Farragut
High School will be hosting the Tennessee Blue Ribbon "Drive-In"
Conference on Monday, June 11. Registration and Continental Breakfast
will begin at 8:00 a.m. Sessions begin at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude
at 5:00 p.m.
Other schools from across the state will meet at Farragut High School
to learn more about becoming one of the most exemplary schools in
the nation by using the National Blue Ribbon Process.
The program is sponsored by Nova Southeastern Universitys Blue
Ribbon Schools of Excellence Institute with assistance from the Tennessee
Department of Education and Farragut High School. Farragut High School
is currently recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence!
The National Blue Ribbon Process is a comprehensive approach that
works for schools that have reached a high level of success and want
to fine-tune their programs to serve as national models. It is used
by schools that have challenging demographics, and need a starting
point and a climate of assessment, discussion and problem solving.
It is also an effective tool for districts that desire to reenergize
their school community, bringing a new sense of focus for change and
improvement.
The sessions will include presentations by existing Blue Ribbon Schools
(elementary, middle and high) from across the Southeast as well as
two main sessions on writing the application and a step-by-step review
of the criteria. Bart Teal, Director of the Blue ribbon Schools Institute
at NSU, will lead the two main sessions. Ms. Cindy Fagan, Clue Ribbon
Liaison for the Tennessee Department of Education, will outline the
timeline and application process used in the state.
