 School Resource Officer Agreement Reached With The City

The Knox County School System and the Knoxville Police Department have finalized an agreement under which the KPD will provide Schools Resource Officers to each of the high schools located within their jurisdiction. The KPD will also provide the school system with handheld two-way radios, which will expedite emergency communications and help improve district wide security operations.

Knoxville Mayor Victor Ashe, Police Chief Phil Keith and School Superintendent Charles Lindsey will sign the SRO agreement at 1:30 p.m. July 24 during a ceremony in Board Room located on the first floor of the Andrew Johnson Building, 912 South Gay Street.

Participants will be available for a media opportunity following the ceremony.
