October 1, 2001On October 2, 2001, thousands of students, parents, caregivers and school staff will walk to school all across the United States, Canada and Europe! Knox County Schools is going to join them! The purpose of this event is to encourage support for healthier children, safer streets, a cleaner environment and a stronger Knoxville-Knox County community
.
This year, the event will be held at six (6) area schools. They are: Christenberry Elementary, Cedar Bluff Primary, Farragut Primary, Lonsdale Elementary, West Hills Elementary and West Valley Middle. Elected officials and other community leaders, parents, students and staff will begin walking at 7:00 a.m. (elementary) and 7:30 a.m. (middle) from a designated location or the child’s home.
Walk Our Children to School Day is a national event and will go on regardless of the weather! For more specific information, you may contact one of the participating schools.
