Knox County Schools Conduct Kindergarten Round-Up 

Kindergarten "round-up" programs for parents of children who will be five years old on or before September 30, 2002 are scheduled for Tuesday, April 16 in the Knox County schools. Parents should register their children at the school where they are zoned to attend.

Kindergarten was mandated for all students on July 1, 1993. The Tennessee Education Improvement Act of 1992, includes the following provision: "No child shall be eligible to enter first grade after July 1, 1993, without having attended an approved kindergarten program..." The Mandatory Compulsory Age Attendance Law has been amended to require mandatory attendance at age six (6).

At round-up parents will receive important information that will provide a smooth school entrance for Knox County children. School schedules are as follows:
