KCS Sets New Meal Prices

Knox County Schools will have new prices for breakfast and lunch meals with the beginning of the new school year on August 13.

“We have not adjusted our meal prices in several years,” said Mary Lou Henry, Knox County Schools Food Service Supervisor. “Breakfast prices were last changed in 1998 and lunch prices were last changed in 1999. We have absorbed an average of a 4% increase in food and labor prices every year over that period.”

According to Henry the change is needed to bring what the school system has been charging for meals back into line with expenses.

The new meal prices are:

Breakfast

  • Student .85
  • Reduced Student .30
  • Adult (Knox County School Personnel) 1.10
  • Adult (Visitor) 1.60

Lunch

  • K-5 student 1.60
  • 6-12 Student 1.85
  • Reduced Student .40
  • Adult (Knox County School Personnel) 2.70
  • Adult (Visitor) 3.20
