Mooreland Hits. Simon is Wal-Mart "Teacher of the Year"

Ms. Kitty Simon was the recipient of the Wal-Mart “Teacher of The Year” award for 2004-2005 school year in south Knoxville. Not only did she receive the award, but she overwhelming received the most votes at the Wal-Mart on Chapman Highway.

Ms. Simon was surprised on Honor’s Day as she was recognized as the recipient of this very special award. For her recognition, Ms. Simon received a $1000.00 check to spend in her classroom at her discretion. However, Mooreland Heights Elementary School also received $1000.00 to spend on instruction at the school.

Carolyn Art, the Partner In Education representative from Chapman Highway Wal-Mart was in attendance to present the award to Ms. Simon.

The greatest recognition came when Ms. Simon was presented with her “official” Wal-Mart vest that was adorned in Wal-Mart blue and recognizing her as the Wal-Mart “Teacher of The Year.”

Mooreland Heights Elementary School and the Wal-Mart on Chapman Highway make a great partnership. Wal-Mart has stepped up to the plate whenever asked by the school. It is partnerships such as these that make the Partner In Education the successful endeavor that it is!
